About Our Principal
Pastor, theological educator, conference speaker, and author serving the Church in Zambia and beyond.
“My desire is to make biblical truth clear, accessible, and useful for faithful Christian living.” Collins Sakalunda (Pastor)
A brief introduction
Collins Sakalunda is a Baptist pastor, theological educator, speaker, and author with more than two decades of ministry experience.
His work brings together the local church, theological education, discipleship, pastoral counselling, and Christian publishing. At the heart of these different responsibilities is one conviction: God’s Word is sufficient to bring people to Christ, shape Christian character, strengthen homes, equip the Church, and guide faithful living in society.
He serves as Resident Pastor of Meanwood Ndeke Baptist Church in Chongwe. He is our Principal at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia, and also teaches and mentors students at African Christian University. Through conferences, seminars, books, sermons, and articles, our Principal seeks to communicate biblical truth with theological faithfulness, pastoral warmth, and practical clarity.
Faith begins at home
Before the public roles and responsibilities, our Principal is a husband and father.
He is married to Edna, and together they are blessed with six children. Family life has deeply shaped his pastoral ministry and writing, particularly his concern for the discipleship of young people, healthy relationships, biblical marriage, and the spiritual formation of the home.
For him, ministry is not separate from ordinary Christian faithfulness. The home is one of the first places where love, sacrifice, patience, leadership, forgiveness, and trust in God must be lived.
Our Principal grew up attending church after his father’s conversion in 1988. Yet during his secondary school years, away from home and the Christian influence of his parents, he lived without a personal relationship with Christ and saw no need for God in his life.
After completing school, his sisters faithfully engaged him with the gospel. On Sunday, 12 May 1996, he agreed to attend Chilenje South Baptist Church. Through the preaching of God’s Word, he became deeply convicted of his sin and his need to surrender to Jesus Christ. An elder explained the gospel to him more clearly, and that afternoon he received Christ as Lord and Saviour.
He was baptised on 2 November 1996 and received into the membership of Chilenje South Baptist Church. Soon afterwards, an older Christian man discipled him alongside two other young men, teaching them the foundations of the faith and helping them learn to teach and preach Scripture.
“Since then, his life has never been the same. He has found meaning and joy not only in Christian living, but also in serving the Lord.”
The call to serve
A calling recognised in the local church, tested through service, and strengthened through theological training.
Following his baptism, our Principal became active in church leadership and was intentionally prepared to teach and preach God’s Word.
Through Ambassadors of Christ (a ministry then of Central Baptist Church, Lusaka), he gained practical experience in personal evangelism and church planting and began to sense God’s call to ministry.
After prayer, reflection, and counsel from church leaders, he entered the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia.
While still a theological student, he was called to serve as Associate Pastor of Harvestime Baptist Church.
He continues to serve through pastoral ministry, theological education, mentorship, conference speaking, and writing.
Theological formation
Our Principal’s theological education combines formal study with sustained service in the local church and classroom.
